Driving Directions to JFK Airport

Ok, you are taking on the challenge and decided to drive to JFK airport. I don’t really recommend this due to fact that traffic can be insane, but if you are determined here are the routes from Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island to the JFK International Airport:
What are the directions to the airport?

A) Driving Directions from Brooklyn:

Take the Brooklyn Queens Expressway heading South to the Belt Parkway East. Exit at exit 19 for the Nassau Expressway (NY-878). This will go to the JFK airport.

B) Directions from New Jersey:

1) Take I-80 East to I-280 East and pick up the NJ Turnpike heading South. Exit at exit 13 and take the Goethals bridge to Staten Island. The Staten Island Expressway (I-278) should be followed to the Verrazano Bridge. There you’ll take the bridge to the Belt Pkway going East. Take exit 19 to Nassau Expressway (NY-878) to JFK International Airport.

2) Take I-78 East to NJ Turnpike heading SOuth. Get out at exit 13 and take the Goethals Bridge over to Staten Island. Pick ut the Staten Island Expressway (I-278) and head to the Verrazano Bridge. You’ll then get the Belt Parkway going east and take exit 19 to Nassau Expressway (NY-878) to Kennedy Airport (JFK International).

C) Driving Directions from Long Island

Northern Long Island:

1) Take the Long Island Expressway (LIE) and head west. Pick up the Belt Parkway (Southern State) and exit at number 20. Follow signs to JFK International Airport.

Southern Long Island:

Take the Southern State Parkway West and exit at number 20 to Belt Parkway. NOTE: The name of Southern State Pkwy changes to Belt Pkway.
Directions from Manhattan:

1) Are you taking the Triborough Bridge? Pick up Grand Central east to the Van Wyck south. The Van Wyck will go to JFK International Airport. Please watch signs.

2) If you are taking the Midtown Tunnel then you’ll want to go east on the Long Island Expressway and go to Grand Central E to Van Wyck South.

Please note that it is pretty much impossible to know the driving time from the metropolitan area to JFK due to traffic delays. There are other options such as riding in a Town Car to JFK .
